American Idol traveled back to the 1980s last night.
But the remaining eight finalists were forced to look ahead on Thursdays results show, as America voted and revealed an unfortunate future for one contestant:
He or she is going home. Who received the bad news?

It appeared briefly that fan favorite Phillip Phillips might be in danger, but it came down to Elise Testone and DeAndre Brackensick in the bottom two.
The contestant getting the boot this week was …
DeAndre.
The audience, predictably, began chanting “Save! Save! Save! Save!” Unfortunately for the falsetto-singing teen, only one of the judges would’ve done so.
Jennifer broke the bad news: “This boy right here, we’ve been watching him for two years. You’re an amazing performer. I stand by that,” she told him.
However, “I only get one vote. I’m sorry … we’re not saving you tonight.”
Ryan puts her on the spot, asking if J. Lo voted to save him while Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson didn’t. “Yes,” she replies, “that’s what I’m saying.”
Think she was serious? It’s a good cover story if not. Every week could be a 2-1 decision against the eliminated singer. Anyway, best of luck, DeAndre.
What do you think? Did America (and the judges) get it right?

They all chose singles by their personal idols this week, but for one member of the American Idol top 9, that role model proved to be unlucky tonight.
Whose name was called at the conclusion of the latest results show? Did the judges use the power of their save to keep this individual around? You’re seconds away from the answer…

Following performances by Nicki Minaj and Scotty McCreery, Hollie Cavanagh, Sklyar Laine and Heejan Han stood in the bottom three. Hollie was the first to be told she was safe, leading to the announcement moments later that Han would be going home.
He once again belted out “A Song For You” in an attempt to be rescued by the panel, but – despite tears from Jennifer Lopez – it was not meant to be. Only eight finalists remain.
Did Han deserve to go home this week?

Elise Testone took on a major American Idol challenge last night.
The singer – who has been as up and down as any on season 11; in the bottom three on week; atop the rankings the following week – didn’t shy away from Led Zepplin’s “Whole Lotta Love” on an evening where finalists could choose their own track to cover.
Testone showed off her range on the track – described by Randy Jackson as “the hardest song in the world to sing” – rocking out and displaying impressive vocal maturity and stage presence. What did you think of the performance? Is it up par with Phillip Phillips for best of the night?
We post. You decide.

American Idol pared its field down to nine singers this week.
Following their performances Wednesday night, DeAndre Brackensick and Heejun Han seemed destined for the bottom three on tonight’s results show.
Did they land there? And who else ended up on the block?

The dreaded bottom three came down to those two gents, as many predicted, along with Erika Van Pelt, with the judges indicating right off the bat that they would not be saving any of the above. Rough!
When the results were read, the fewest number of votes went to…
Erika Van Pelt! America actually preferred DeAndre Brackensick and Heejun Han. The viewers of this show really don’t like female singers, huh?
She had been a staple in the bottom three, but after a total makeover and a strong performance this week, many felt she would be in the clear.
Erika just didn’t connect with enough voters to stay on Idol, though, leaving DeAndre and Heejun to fight another week … possibly their last.
Check back Friday for continued coverage of the show, including fallout from this week’s elimination and video of Lana Del Rey’s performance?
What did you think of the results? Did Erika deserve to go?

Steven Tyler was NOT amused by Heejun Han on American Idol last night.
The season 11 finalist chose to clown around throughout his performance of Billy Joel’s “My Life,” starting by telling the band to speed it up and then prancing around on stage, making faces, dancing like a goofball in front of the judges’ table.
“Are you happy that you took the piss out of that song?” Tyler asked after Han was done, adding: “The music business will kick your ass. Sometimes you gotta be a bit more serious.”
But does he? Could this be a schtick that appeals to viewers? Watch and then vote below:

American Idol eliminated two contestants this week, first sending Jermaine Jones home last night for lying about his criminal record and then giving another finalist the axe tonight for… well, being worse than the other 10 singers.
So, who will NOT be going on tour this summer?
Following performances by Daughtry and Demi Lovato (below), the final three came down to Shannon Magrane, Erika Van Pelt and Elise Testone, with the fewest number of votes going to…

Shannon Magrane.
The 16-year-old went with Mariah Carey’s “One Sweet Day” in an attempt to earn the judges’ save, but Randy Jackson told her it was not meant to be: “Unfortunately, we’re not going to use it tonight, Shannon. Thank you.”
What did you think of these results? Did Shannon deserve to go home?

Jermaine Jones is reportedly getting kicked off American Idol.
The finalist was already in trouble for lying about the status of his relationship with his father, according to TMZ, when producers dug deeper into his past and uncovered a couple more untruths:
He has a criminal history. Jones has been arrested twice, providing a fake name to police on both occasions. One of the incidents also involved violence, sources confirm.

American Idol insiders say Jones will appear on tomorrow night’s performance show, but will then be given the axe. It’s unclear exactly how it will all go down.
Should Jermaine be kicked off the show?

The adventures of Chris Brown are given the superhero treatment in a new animated viral video. A regular caped crusader, the singer dispatches of criminal miscreants across the land, using some of his trademark moves and quotes. It’s a sight to behold.
Some of the dialogue is taken directly from Chris’ Twitter post after his Grammy win, as well as that pesky police report, giving it that much more authenticity.
This is NOT a superhero you want to mess with, clearly:

American Idol is now down to 12.
Following an evening that paid tribute to Whitney Houston and Stevie Wonder – and included the Performance of the Season in Jessica Sanchez’s “I Will Always Love You” rendition – the Fox competition sent its first finalist packing tonight. And the unlucky contestant was…

… Jeremy Rosado!
The Jer-Bear was a bundle of nerves prior to his cover of “Ribbon in the Sky” last night, knowing he was a judges’ Wild Card pick from the week before and really had to prove himself to viewers. Sadly, he won’t have any more opportunities to do so.
What do you think? Did Jeremy deserve to go home?
