Halle Berry Fleeing U.S. Due to Death Threats?

Halle Berry does not want to move to France with young daughter Nahla and fiance Olivier Martinez to spite Gabriel Aubry – she fears for her life, according to reports.

TMZ reports that Halle is motivated by security in asking a judge for permission to move to France with Nahla – something Gabriel Aubry is trying to block.

There have apparently been serious threats to Halle’s life – from one man in particular – and she feels the move out of the country is a life or death situation.

Halle Berry Close Up

Robert Hoskins, a mentally unstable man, escaped from a mental institution last week and has made threats against Halle, specifically to “slit her throat.”

Hoskins threatened to slit Madonna’s throat in the past and was actually shot by her bodyguard in 1995 after he trespassed onto the pop star’s property.

As if that weren’t enough, another stalker who recently trespassed onto Halle’s property multiple times in the past has just been released from jail.

Halle is particularly concerned because Starmaps and some Hollywood bus tours literally take tourists to her doorstep, and it freaks her out.

The actress is also concerned that Gabriel Aubry, Nahla’s father, is parading in front of paparazzi almost daily and possibly putting her at risk.

A judge has yet to rule on her request to skip town.

Kyle Williams Takes Blame for San Francisco Defeat, Faces Death Threats

The 49ers fell to the Giants yesterday in the NFC Championship Game and – like Billy Cundiff on the Ravens – most of the blame lies at the feet of one player: Kyle Williams, who turned the ball over TWICE on punt returns, including one fumble that led to an easy New York field goal in overtime.

Williams has taken responsibility for the mishaps, but that isn’t enough for some crazed fans.

Many have taken to Twitter and issued death threat against the little-used wide receiver, who was only pressed in to duty due to an injury.

“It certainly makes you question our culture of sports as it stands,” said Kyle’s dad, Chicago White Sox General Manager Kenny Williams, while kicker David Akers also stood up for his teammate:

“I’m irritated with the way people are treating him, absolutely. I think it’s ridiculous. You know, get a grip on what life’s about. He went out and he put his soul out there. That’s what he does. He was not trying to do anything other than make an incredible play for this team.”

We agree. And fans ought to be thanking Williams for helping to set up a Giants/Patriots Super Bowl. It’s gonna be epic!

Joe Paterno Near Death, Reports Say

Former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno, the all-time Division I leader in wins, and who resigned amid the university’s child molestation scandal just months ago, is reportedly near death due to complications from lung cancer.

On Saturday, as friends and family were being summoned to State College, Pa., Hospital, a family spokesman said the coach had taken a turn for the worse.

Penn State student website Onward State reported that PSU team members were notified of Paterno’s passing via email. However, a Paterno family spokesperson denied the report and his son tweeted that his father “continues to fight.”

Known for his “success with honor” motto, thick glasses, rolled-up pants and black cleats, Paterno left an indelible mark on Penn State and college football in general.

Joe, 85, has five children with wife Sue and 17 grandchidlren.

A Brooklyn native and Brown University graduate, Paterno began coaching the Nittany Lions in 1966 and his tenure stretched to October of this year.

In his 46 years as head coach, Paterno holds the all-time Division I record for football coaching wins with a 409-136-3 record and two national titles.

After a highly celebrated career and iconic status, Paterno’s career as coach ended as a result of a scandal involving former assistant Jerry Sandusky.

Sandusky allegedly sexually assaulted young boys, including a 10-year-old. Paterno was fired over his handling (or lack of handling) of the scandal.

Announcing his retirement, he said, “This is a tragedy. It is one of the great sorrows of my life. With the benefit of hindsight, I wish I had done more.”

“I’m sick about it. I didn’t know exactly how to handle it, and I was afraid to do something that might jeopardize what the university procedure was.”

“So I backed away and turned it over to some other people, people I thought would have a little more expertise than I did. It didn’t work out that way.”

In November, he was diagnosed with lung cancer and his health rapidly deteriorated.

Though the scandal sullied Paterno’s image in his final days, the coach enjoyed decades of success and reverence on the campus he and his wife helped build.

That’s not likely to change anytime soon.

Jonah Shacknai Seeks to Reopen Rebecca Zahau Death Investigation

As if the investigation into the death of Rebecca Zahau and Max Shacknai weren’t strange enough, Jonah Shacknai himself wants to see it reopened.

In a letter sent by Shacknai to the attorney general Monday, the billionaire pharmaceutical CEO wrote that further investigation would be beneficial.

Seeking to bring “clarity, dignity, and ultimately closure to the devastating deaths” of his girlfriend and son, he asked that the investigation proceed.

Shacknai

“The circumstances of Rebecca’s suicide were so unusual and upsetting that it was difficult to accept the hard facts that were presented,” he went on to write.

“I pray that Max and Rebecca are now at peace and I hope you might be able to help the rest of us … finally achieve some peace and closure.”

Rebecca’s naked body was found hanging from the balcony of Shacknai’s Coronado, Calif., mansion on July 13, only two days after his son, Max, 6, was found unconscious at the base of the stairs. Max later died from his injuries.

Rebecca was babysitting Max, whose mother is Shacknai’s ex-wife, at the time. Investigators ruled her death as a suicide, stating she was riddled with guilt and knew he was going to die. Max’s death was ruled an accident.

A mysterious suicide message that was found written on the guest room door near Rebecca’s body that read: “She Saved Him Can You Save Her,” is one of the many mystifying details in the case that has captivated many.

Also, the fact that her hands and feet were bound with rope and she was nude is eerie and perplexing. She was gagged, there was blood on her body and she suffered hemorrhages, making suicide seem less likely to some.

Shacknai’s surprising letter to the attorney general came after Rebecca’s family publicly questioned the ruling of suicide after examiners’ conclusions.

“It doesn’t add up from day one,” her sister, Mary Zahau told Good Morning America. “It seemed like from the beginning that things were ignored.”

Asked if she thought her sister was murdered, Mary replied, “Yes.”

Casey Anthony, Parents, Lawyers & Jurors: Death Threats Galore!

The Casey Anthony trial still has people fired up, and the people who factored into the accused killer’s acquittal are now feeling the public’s wrath.

Someone is threatening to kill the 25-year-old, her attorneys, and the jurors who found Anthony not guilty of murdering her daughter this week.

According to Casey’s attorney Cheney Mason, his team has received “all kinds of threats” at his office since the controversial verdict came in.

Almost Free

Specifics are scarce, but the threats have been plentiful, including one credible enough that “we just turned it over to law enforcement.”

There are reports Casey’s parents, George and Cindy Anthony (both of whom were key witnesses at Casey’s trial) are also being targeted.

George and Cindy are said to have gone into hiding since the jury’s ruling cleared Casey, though this has not been independently confirmed.

For his part, Mason doesn’t seem worried, at least for now. He laughed off the threats, claiming the people behind them are “cowards.”

Did the jury get it right?
