The X Factor tried to shake things up this week by sending TWO contestants home – but the only real surprise was that the show featured Howie Mandel in the audience. Isn’t he a NBC guy?
Indeed, the two performances given the boot were the most obvious selections of the remaining nine, one a group, the other an over-30 hopeful. So long, Lakoda Rayne and LeRoy Bell. You had a decent run.
Rayne was sent packing early on in the broadcast – which also featured performances by Kelly Clarkson and Bruno Mars – as that group received the lowest number of votes following last night’s performance show. Paula Abdul now has no more proteges remaining.
Bell, meanwhile, was in the bottom two alongside Marcus Canty. The judges tried to instill some tension in the second elimination, deadlocking their votes and leaving the singers’ fate up to the audience. Steve Jones promptly read Bell’s name off a card and the elder crooner took his ousting like a man.

The Stereo Hoggz survived one appearance in the bottom two on The X Factor last week, successfully singing for their lives and avoiding elimination.
But the second time was not the charm for this talented quintet: earlier tonight, they became the second consecutive group to get the boot.
The elimination of another one of her charges was too much for Paula Abdul to take. After L.A. Reid and Nicole Scherzinger cast votes to send the Hoggz packing, Paula teared up and refused to participate.
“I can’t do this,” the emotional judge said, until being informed she had to do this or else the Hoggz would definitely go home.
Abdul then selected Lakoda Rayne, in order to avoid being the deciding voice, leaving Simon Cowell to reject the Hoggz and leaving the show with its top 10.

Amy Winehouse was found dead in her apartment in London today.
Multiple sources confirm that the singer is the woman in this press release from the Metropolitan Police, which doesn’t specifically name her:
“Police were called by Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 just before 16 hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman deceased.”
“On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death.”
“At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained.”
Amy Winehouse famously battled serious addiction to hard drugs and alcohol and was in and out of rehab several times throughout the years.
Winehouse shot to fame with the 2006 album Back to Black, whose blend of jazz, soul, rock and classic pop won five Grammys and made her a star.
Unfortunately, a turbulent marriage to Blake Fielder-Civil and overall self-destructive habits overshadowed her distinctive talent in the years since.
Tabloids and the public became riveted by her erratic stage appearances, drunken fights, stints in hospital and rehab clinics, her performances increasingly rambling, stumbling train wrecks – and cause for concern.
Just last month, Winehouse canceled her upcoming European tour after an awful prformance in Serbia where she seemed completely out of it.
Sadly, this story is almost shocking because it is not shocking.
Her talent will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace.

There are many home decorating styles that people adopt. Much of it is determined by personal preference, but some of it is adopted because people want to sell their property. Some home decorating is completely modern with plain wood or laminate flooring throughout and perhaps a fully tiled bathroom and of course a fully fitted kitchen. This decorating style is often adopted by, or appeals to the young professional who wants their home to be functional yet stylish.
Some people’s home decorating styles tend towards the country cottage with lots of chintzy curtains and big soft cushions. Large kitchens are a favorite for this style because people can eat in a warm, bright room that is hung with pots and brightened by plants. Many people long to come home to a warm and welcoming kitchen and a comfortable sitting room, they are more interested in comfort than style. This type of home decorating style usually suits a family who want their home to fit around their lifestyle and accommodate their hobbies and projects.
Home decorating styles may vary, depending on what kind of life you lead and where you live. In some areas there is a tendency for residents to adopt similar styles of decoration rather than having an eclectic mix.
There are plenty of television programs around that show you how to decorate your home with style – a lot depends on whether your idea of style is the same as the designer’s idea of style. Mirrors and plush fabrics seem to be a prominent feature of this style of home decoration. Feature walls are also a must. With this style three walls may be painted and a fourth wall is made into a feature with some (usually expensive) wallpaper that tones with the paint.
You can still see home decorating styles that hark back to the days of hippies and often mean that the home owner has an artistic turn. Here you will see tiffany lamps, floor cushions and bright colors. Homes decorated in this way can have a warm and welcoming feel or they can be over bright with furniture, fittings and carpets all screaming for the visitor’s attention.
Home decorating styles are largely a result of people’s vision of the type of life they would like to live. Some like a neutral background where they can add possessions and brighten the style with accessories. Still others like a home to be bright and bustling and their decorating style will reflect this. Whatever you choose in home decorating styles, you should make sure that it is something you will be happy to live with for an extended period of time.

Having numerous styles available at our disposal, it?s difficulty to choose what?s fitting and popular today. The following are the most recently inspiring and fashionable styles:
Modern Style. It is clean and characterized by polished surfaces. Colors are neutral and finishes ? smooth and polished. Modern interior decorating style is exciting and fresh.
Tuscan style: This is stirred by elements of nature. Some of these wonderful elements include: crumbling stone walls, sun-washed hill sides, marble flooring, simple and study furnishings with elegance iron accents. The appeal lies in its simplicity.
Traditional style. It remains at the top of popularity charts in many homes today; Furniture is often arranged on a straight axis and centered within the room. It?s somewhat calm, orderly and predictable. Elegance and history personify this style.
Contemporary style. Commonly characterized by clean lines and smooth surfaces without intricate details. Today?s contemporary interiors are welcoming, spacious and comfortable. As a matter of fact, they are neither clustered nor in dark colors.
Cottage style. It?s basically characterized by painted and/or decorated furniture with graceful lines/textured elements. The color is purely botanical. Furnishings are comfortably made of iron. Cottage is meant to be lived and enjoyed.
Romantic style: This style exudes some comfort that appeals to the sense through soft fabrics with floral pattern, filtered light through sheer fabrics and a romantic floral arrangement.
Furnishings should be feminine. Fabric should be soft and luxurious.
Casual style. The focus is on comfort, casual rooms have simple details and items are arranged in a manner that avoids a perfect symmetry. Furniture is soft and comfortable with upholstered furniture covered in neutral colors.
English style. They are formal and traditional. More often than not, radiating a sense of conservatism. It?s characterized by large pieces of artwork, combinations of dark wood antiques, small bathroom and minimum color.
