Dancing With the Stars Recap: Katherine Jenkins Cries Tears of Pain … or Joy

With the competition down to the final two weeks, tension was running high on Dancing with the Stars, and seemed to overwhelm one top contestant.

A seemingly minor misstep at the end of a solid routine left Katherine Jenkins in tears, and not just fighting them back. We’re talking meltdown here.

Their salsa – their second routine of the night – saw Katherine stumble, a mistake that barely troubled the judges, but left her bawling on stage:

“That was just fantastic,” said Carrie Ann Inaba, who awarded a nine. “I’m sorry at the end. But I just love seeing you push your boundaries.”

The other judges also gave her nines, but with the finals a week away, the miscue left Jenkins in tears. “I’m sorry, Mark,” she told her partner.

Disappointment, pain, overall nerves … it’s unclear what caused the crying from Katherine, who also scored a 29 in her first dance, a quickstep.

Afterward, she was heard saying, “I don’t know what happened.” She later Tweeted: “I’m with the Doctor, he says it was a reflectorical spasm in my lower back.”

Maria Menounos & Derek Hough – Tango (DWTS Week 9)

In any event, she’s still in this thing, as no more than three points separate all the contestants on a night that saw near perfection in the scoring.

“This is going to be the best semi-finals ever,” proclaimed Len Goodman.

Maria Menounos and Derek Hough could not have done a better tango, getting yet another perfect 30. Later they got a 29 for their jive, as well.

William Levy & Cheryl Burke – Samba (Dancing With the Stars)

William Levy and Cheryl Burke matched that 30 for a red-hot samba, leaving Len at a loss for words. Their earlier tango collected 29 points.

Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd soared, getting 10s from Tonioli and Inaba and a nine from Len for the samba. Their earlier tango earned 28.

Here’s how the leaderboard stacks up after the semifinals:

  1. Maria Menounos and Derek Hough: (30+29) 59
  2. William Levy and Cheryl Burke: (28+30) 58
  3. Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd: (28+29) 57
  4. Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas: (29+27) 56

Mariah Carey on Nick Cannon: In Pain, Hopeful

As previously reported, Nick Cannon was admitted to as Aspen hospital last night due to what his wife has described as “mild kidney failure.”

What is the prognosis for the America’s Got Talent host? In a follow-up statement to People, Mariah Carey says she isn’t certain, but adds that Cannon is in “good spirits,” although “the situation is not easy” and he’s in “a lot of pain.”

“We are hopeful that he’ll be 100 percent as soon as possible,” Carey says. “We really appreciate everybody’s love and support.”

Cable is in stable condition and is being transferred to a facility in Los Angeles. Well enough to Tweet, the singer wrote this afternoon:

J.R. Martinez Dances Through Pain, Frustration

J.R. Martinez and Ricki Lake have been swapping the first place spot all season on Dancing With the Stars. Last night, it was definitely the latter’s turn on top.

While he’s never one to complain (look at all he’s been through in life), J.R. rolled his right ankle in rehearsal and then twisted it again during his routines.

The famous smile that lights up the dance floor was barely there Monday, replaced by grimaces of pain and looks of disappointment. His posture was off.

J.R. and Karina Smirnoff did manage to turn in a sexy Argentine tango to make up for a subpar Paso Doble, but it’ll be up to fans to carry him through.

Can J.R. earn a spot in next week’s DWTS finals after an off week that saw him finish a distant third? Watch his performances and see what you think …

Who do you think will win Dancing With the Stars?

Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith: Brunching Away the Pain!

There’s really nothing that a good brunch can’t fix.

Such was the attitude of Will and Jada Smith this morning, as the couple – under siege with rumors that she cheated on him with Marc Anthony – was spotted getting coffee and omelets at Bob Morris’ Beach Cafe in Malibu.

Will and Jada Pinkett Smith

They departed holding hands and with huge smiles on their faces, making a point to acknowledge the paparazzi and pose for photos with fans. TMZ has a video of Will laughing about the “ridiculous” gossip.

Did the pair go out of its way to be seen in public? Laughing and seemingly in love? Probably. But that doesn’t mean the chatter is true. What do you think? Did Jada cheat on Will?
