Will George Takei live long enough to prosper after making the following comments public?
In order to settle a feud between one Star Trek icon (William Shatner) and on Star Wars veteran (Carrie Fisher), this veteran actor has taken to the Internet and posted a message that he hopes will bring both sides together: let’s all hate on Twilight instead!
“What’s needed today now more than ever is star peace, for there is an ominous, mutual threat to all science fiction. It’s called Twilight and it is really, really bad,” says Takei.
The actor even gets rather specific in calling our Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and company, adding:
“Gone is any sense of heroism, camaraderie or epic battles. In its place, we have vampires that sparkle, moan and go to high school. Now, I’m not above mixing in a little sex appeal to spice up the fantasy, but sci-fi fans be warned, there are no great stories, characters or profound life lessons to be found in Twilight… In Twilight, the only message that rings through loud and clear is: ‘Does my boyfriend like me?’
“Let us band together to combat this mutual threat.”
Powerful words. Now you tell us: Which movie franchise is best?

The comparisons were inevitable, but Jennifer Lawrence would like to stop them before they grow too loud.
“The Hunger Games is not Twilight,” the actress, who plays the main role of Katniss Everdeen in this March 23 release, says in the latest issue of Vanity Fair. “It’s really premature to say that it will be the same phenomenon.”

Lawrence stars in the movie alongside an impressive young cast, pictured above on set in North Carolina, that includes Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson. They round out the teen participants forced to compete to the death in the government-mandated Hunger Games.
“I’m so proud of the work we did on the film,” Lawrence gushes. “[Director] Gary Ross and the entire cast and crew were amazing, and I can’t wait for it to be brought to life because I think it’s an important story. If it does become a crazy phenomenon, I’ll soak up my freedom now!”

In what will likely be the first of many records set by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, the film has knocked The Twilight Saga out of a number-one perch.
The final adventure for Daniel Radcliffe and company $ 43.5 million at midnight screenings Friday morning, demolishing the $ 30 million mark set by The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

Harry cleared $ 80 overall yesterday, blowing by the $ 72 million record by The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Look for it to gross over $ 180 million before the weekend is over, which would move it past The Dark Knight and prove once and for all:
Movie goers prefer wizards to vampires and mayhem-causing superheroes.
